That Nerdy Chick is on #OKCupid

SOOO!! I totally created a profile on okcupid last night. Again, judging by my schedule for about the next 6 years, i dont know if I see dating as a possibility ... HOWWWEEVVERRRR, I am enjoying reading all the emails. Here are some of my favs:

This actually did get my attention, that was until @Kristi_gail told me she got the same message.

Already looking forward to the weekend? You clearly do not enjoy what you do for work. I on the other hand LOOVVEEEEEEEEE it! Totally never going to happen, totally not responding.

(EDITOR'S NOTE: PER REQUEST OF THE COMMUNITY ... ONE POST HAD TO BE REMOVED.)

HERE WAS THE RESPONSE: Oh HELLLLLLL to the fuck no. You're testing my nerdness? Dude, that just annoys me. Annoying chicks = very. very. very. bad. Totally not getting a response.

Ummm did you even read my profile? Not that I am saying this is ALL about me ... but the other 42 messages I've received at least TRIEEDDDDD. This guy has been doing this for way too long. (sad face)

WTF?!?!!? I totally remember this dude. I did a video of him from KickAss - it was awesome. He got a response just out of sheer WTFage. CRAZY. CRAZY. CRAZY. Small world.

Anywhahoodle, will keep you all posted on this nerdy little adventure.

enigma cupher cracked by great gay military hero alan turing in ww2 helped british find uboats and turned the tide in the european theater. as thanks for this turing was harrassed and persecuted unto death by the nation he did so much to save. he is often credited with having invented the computer. #nerdsftw pick that guy

Sorry, but this just seems catty and something out of Mean Girls.

You dismiss the "weekend" guy so quickly. Maybe it's an incredibly busy week? Maybe it's a big weekend for him?

And the testing your nerdiness guy just seemed to be trying to connect on some common ground only to find you publicly mocking him. I feel worse after going to his site and seeing that he does free webdesign for charities devoted to special needs children.

i think i'm sorry has a point.

you could put in your profile that you are posting people's emails to you on your blog. people would probably like to know that.

I assume his domain name is his real life name.

i CLEARRLLYY say in the profile that i operate as a life-caster and have no privacy settings. I am not including names, just documenting my experiences. I plan on going on dates, and being a normal chick - just providing the social commentary aspect to dating. So what?!!?

alrite dude, i took that ONE down. the domain wasnt even up - which was weird, but i do agree - that was kinda gnarly.

im not poking fun at anyone, just explaining what it is really like for a chick to be on a dating site. I would LOVE to find someone who could actually keep up with my schedule. I dont know if that is a possibility, but im certainly willing to try.

It appears we joined OKCupid at around the same time.
I have to say though, that what bothers me most about real-life dating also bothers me about online dating: The guy has to do all the work. Girls apparently just sit around waiting for a guy to approach them with his best pick-up line. Or at least they can afford to do so.

The odds of getting a positive reply appear to be heavily in favor of the anonymous mail-bombardement tactic as opposed to reading a profile and crafting a unique message. If you're lucky to even get a reply. After barely 24 hours on the site you already got tons of messages. I don't think I've even had 5 girls contacting ME directly in the 9 months I've been on the site. Although a lot of that may be due to a profile that's rather light on personal details.

Or something about me just sets off the "creep" alert and other guys don't have this issue?

Anyway, none of this is your fault of course, it just bugs me. I just wanted to air my annoyance at the way everyone seems to be thinking OKC is the best thing ever.

For what it's worth, I hope your experiment works out and you find what you're looking for ;)
