#Randombling: That Nerdy Chick (i fucking hate dating)
We interrupt this post to bring you a sex tip PSA from our friends over at LuckyBloke.com: In the past many STDs were easily treatable with antibiotics: however, there are now virulent forms of both gonorrhea and Chlamydia that are very resistant to treatment. STDs can severely compromise your immune system, cause infertility, and even death.
so, i realized while on a date last night that the finance guy really fucked with my head. not that i still have feelings for him on a romantic level, but psychologically - there is still a lot there.
i spent a MONTH and a HALF with this guy telling him over and over what i did, even took him to site related events ... made it ABUNDANTLY CLEAR how public my life is and the fact that people also genuinely do read us ... and everything fell flat.
HE SAID HE HAD NO IDEA!!! what fucking rubbish.
so, per my usual, i got back on the wagon - even wrote out this dating disclaimer. i'm genuinely not mad at the guy, he's super private so i get it ... but there i was last night telling this guy OVER AND OVER AND OVER exactly what i did and it felt so obnoxious. i would talk about the site but then stop and make sure he was getting it like a 5 year old.
that's NEVER me, man.
if guys im dating read this site, great - they may or may not be written about ... that i am EXTREMELY upfront about ... but mostly i hear from guys just how not connected digitally i am while im out and about with them. mentioning it over and over and over to this guy was like nails on chalkboard but after just getting burned so bad ... how could i not?
it just all really hurts. the artist in me can't not express myself and can't not write about these life experiences ... i was literally born to be doing what im doing as a lifecaster - but i did all of this to connect with people, and yet ive still failed at connecting in dating.
i wake up every.single.morning. and am reminded of something i am not good at. breaks my fucking heart. guys tell me over and over too that if i didnt have the site they'd love to date me, but it's bullshit. how can something that LIGHTS YOU UP INSIDE and spark this ... this ... FIRE ... eevveerrrrrr be denied.
i know i just have to keep doing what im doing. ive already taken out the "real time" component of dating regarding this brand, but it's not enough. i dont want to be this crazed psycho talking down to guys like they're a 5 year old saying ... but do you REALLY get this???
damn that finance guy.
oh look a puppy ...

Fun with #OkCupid: 3 different emails ... 3 different responses
First up, if you haven't read my OKC profile - you can check it out over yonder. Might make some sense to the things guys reply to, haha. But for reals, these are all actual emails I've received recently, and my actual responses back to them. It is through this transparent experience that I hope you all can take away some knowledge on what works and what doesn't in the hopes of making your online dating experiences that much more fanschmastically awesome. YAYYYY ONLINE DATING YAYYY!!! K ... cool ... here we go ...

Admitting that your a sex fiend in a first email to someone isn't a flattering thing to highlight. Yes, I do talk about running a site based on nerds, sex, and tech ... but bonding by admitting you're a recovering addict is not an attractive quality. I'm not mad at addicts, go on and rock on wit' yo' awesome - and should this be something you're dealing with save it for at LEAST the second meeting.
Actual Response: None

These emails never ever work. I get on average five a week saying, "if you were stranded on a deserted island and could bring one ..."
These questions are good on a first date when you're face to face and maybe have run out of things to say - but online, they're just SUPER FREAKING CHEESY!
A better approach for this would have been if he had picked one specific detail from my profile and asked me to elaborate.
Example: I see you like spirithoods, do you have a favorite hood?
Actual Response: None

This email is great! I mention the Alchemist in my profile, and then I laughed at his circumstance because the same thing happens to me ALL the time!! Again, one specific detail, then ask for elaboration.
Actual response: This happens to me all the time!!! A friend just borrowed my copy, which reminds me ...
=)
There ya go nerderinos. Best of luck out there!!!

This weekend I finally got a chance to go to Tokyo Disneyland. I’ve been before to Tokyo Disney Sea but never Disneyland. I really wanted to get to both parks before I left Japan. I made the decision to go kind of last minute so unfortunately all of my friends who said they might come bailed on me. I have to admit, going to Disneyland alone made me feel a bit like a sad sack loser at first; but I quickly got over that so I could enjoy myself.
Part of the reason that I visited this weekend was because they were celebrating a Japanese festival called Tanabata. It celebrates the story of two star crossed lovers who are cursed to only meet on one day a year. The day that they are allowed to meet on is July 7th. It’s a popular holiday where people write their wishes on brightly colored paper and tie it to a bamboo tree in hopes that the star crossed lovers will help their wish come true. The entrance at Disneyland greeted you with a giant bamboo sculpture with Mickey and Minnie dressed as the two lovers. You could get a colorful piece of paper in the shape of Mickey’s head to write your wish on and tie to the tree or the other wooden structures around it. I grabbed one and wrote a wish for safe travels home and some kind of job when I come back.
Looking at the two parks you wouldn’t think that there are too many differences between Tokyo Disney Resort and the Disney Resorts in America. Tokyo Disneyland is basically a small replica of Disneyland California. Disney Sea has a couple of different rides and features Ariel’s castle as the center of the park instead of Cinderella’s castle which is epic if you ask me. The Little Mermaid was one of my favorite movies growing up so I highly enjoyed seeing Ariel’s castle.
On closer examination, there are some big differences. The main one is the rides. There are not many rides in either Disney Sea or Disneyland. People don’t really come to ride the rides. The rides are also less intense than the rides in America. There was only one roller coaster that did one 360 degree loop and there were warnings all over the ride that it was the most intense ride in the park. I haven’t been to Disneyland or Disneyworld in a while in America but I’m pretty sure that there is more than one roller coaster or attraction that makes a loop or spins around.
Instead of going on rides people mostly go to buy park exclusives, eat strange flavors of popcorn, and take pictures with characters. The popcorn stands are everywhere. They sell very unique flavors that you can only find in Disney Resort like honey, curry, soy sauce and butter, and strawberry; those are just the flavors I tried the other day. The characters that are popular here are also different than the characters that are popular in America. In Japan, they LOVE the Aristocats especially the cute white kitten named Marie. Now, I'm going to be honest, I haven't seen the Aristocats in about 20 years so I barely recognized the character when I first got here. I told one of my older students that and she looked at me like I was insane for not knowing her name. They also really like Chip and Dale, Stitch, and the Genie not Aladdin or Jasmine. In fact, there was not a single statue or mention of them in the Arabian town area. It was ALL about the Genie.
I had a great day exploring the park. I went on a Monday so it was pretty empty which was very nice. I got to ride almost all of the rides and saw all of the parades. I held my composure pretty well even though there were a couple of moments when I had to stop and realize that this was one of my last weekends in Japan. I couldn’t think of a more perfect way to end it than to watch fireworks over Cinderella’s castle in Tokyo Disneyland. I’ll be home soon! My next post will be my last post from Japan.
