Weird Al Says: WTF?!

Although we associate yawning with sleepiness and boredom, its function appears to be to wake us up. Yawning expands our pharynx and larynx, allowing large amounts of air to pass into our lungs; oxygen then enters our blood, making us more alert. Many vertebrates do it, including all mammals and perhaps birds. It also has been observed in human foetuses after just 12 weeks of gestation. In non human primates, it is associated with tense situations and potential threats.

Think of yawns as your body's attempt to reach full alertness in situations that require it. They are contagious, as anyone who has attempted to teach a roomful of bored students knows. No one is sure why, though it might be advantageous to allow individuals quickly to transmit to one another a need for increased arousal. They are not contagious in non primate mammals, but the ability to recognise a yawn may be fairly general: dogs yawn in response to stressful situations and are thought to use yawning to calm others. You can even sometimes calm your dog by yawning.

Weird Al Says: WTF?!

Altitude makes the brain see strange visions – Many religions involve special visions that occurred at great heights. For example, Moses encountered a voice emanating from a burning bush on Mount Sinai and Muhammad was visited by an angel on Mount Hira. Similar phenomena are reported by mountain climbers, but they don’t think it’s very mystical. Many of the effects are attributable to the reduced supply of oxygen to the brain. At 8,000ft or higher, some mountaineers report perceiving unseen companions, seeing light emanating from themselves or others, seeing a second body like their own, and suddenly feeling emotions such as fear. Oxygen deprivation is likely to interfere with brain regions active in visual and face processing, and in emotional events.

Weird Al Says: WTF?!

Moose droppings were popular souvenirs during the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics in Norway. However, they are always popular in Sweden where 2000 jars a year are sold. If you don't want a whole jar of poop you could always fashion yourself with moose dropping earrings. They're apparently quite popular.

Weird Al Says: WTF?!

Birdo from Super Mario Bros. 2 et al is actually male. In the manual for the Japanese release of the game (Super Mario Bros. 2 USA), Birdo is said to be a male that believes he is female and wishes to be called "Birdetta". Until recently, Nintendo of America had always listed Birdo as being female, but recently started referring to the character as being of "indeterminate gender".

Unapolgetically #Awesome Update!

A hoi hoi mateys,

Alrite - so I need some help. We've definitely hit the tipping point. Between ALL the meetings I've been taking, The Big Bang Theory, various TV, radio, and print interviews - I mean you guys just have no idea how big this shiznat is about to be. It's so COOL that so many people want to come party with the unapologetic awesomeness.

So I'ze be needin' some help, yo! I've already hired one person, I'm looking to talk to a few people today for the co-conspirator in unapologetic awesomeness position, in addition to a few remote co-conspirators ... bottom line, we're big and I can't do the business end of this alone anymore.

I'm talking to @squarespace to see if they can help a sistah out with the extra $10 to get everyone their own logins. I need EVERYONE on this site to be able to do their own postings. Not that I don't love doing it, but I'm very honestly just getting too busy.

It's not going to be a completely open community (as we do have a bulls#it filter round these parts), but you can always feel free to submit an article to JenFriel@TalkNerdyToMeLover.com.

I can explain more what we have in mind for the webseries and all that jazz in a bit - so sit tight. However, my spirit and my awesomeness rest in adventure - and booooyyyyyy do I feel a mighty one on the horizon!!!

Also, I need a camera man. My right hand is still suffering from some gnarly carpel tunnel - and I can't keep doing the videos myself. They need to have their own equipment for now, and be willing to be brave enough to do all the weird, gnarly shiznat I do. Also, I can't be friends with this person. I need an ENTIRELY objective view point. They will be helping out with the livestream in addition to standard archived footage. Hit me up if you know anyone interested.

AND - I want to get the black out of my hair. If anyone knows a hairdresser that can sit and help me get it out, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. They'll be featured in the "getting back to my roots" video. Translation: I will pimp their shiznat OUTTTTT!!!! =)

#TNTML staff: Anyone want to do the "Unkie Chuck Norris," and "Weird Al Says: WTF?!" Also, I asked Rishee about the "On this day ..." so I'll get you a login sweet pea sugarplum. I only have 8 workable fingers and 1.5 workable hands - and boy oh boy, I can't get this content out fast enoughhhh!!!!!

Thanks guys!! Can't WAIT to tell you all more!! Stay tuned ... ;)
