Nerds are the New Rockstars: Bush Pays #Facebook a Visit
Yep. You read that right. On his promotional tour for his new book, “Decision Points,” which has sold more than 1 million copies, George W. Bush became the first president to answer questions live on Facebook which was livestreamed via "Livestream" and aired on Facebook live. (That might sound a little redundant if you don't get it, but since most of you all do - you get the verbiage.) Still think this social media thing is a fad? HAHA!! Loves it.
I watched a bit of the feed, and I have to say I was incredibly impressed. I will preface this however by saying that I am the least political person on the planet ... I come from a family of politicians and when your brother works at the Pentagon, you learn quickly to shut your mouth on things you know nothing about and aren't interested in. Livestreaming however, is TOTALLY my thing.
I was never a big fan of Bush. I voted against him, twice, and just have nothing really nice to say about the guy. Don't like him, don't appreciate him, respect that he was chosen to lead our country, and practice compassion for him at all times ... other than that, I'm pretty meh on him overall as a President. The livefeed managed to change my perspective on him; I actually found him to be incredibly likable.
Throughout his Presidency, his name was often preceded by the words smug and pompous prick. Something he even laughed at towards the end of the livestream by saying, "if you see me at an airport I hope you wave with all 5 fingers."
He just seemed really cool, for the first time - and that was something that only Marky Mark Zuckerberg could have accomplished. Nerds are the new rockstar, and Zuckerberg is the new king of all things cool. Dude, you were worried about The Social Network? Are you KIDDING?! I honestly only respected you MORE the way the film portrayed you.
I have a few friends that work over at Facebook who posted some cool mobile uploads. This one is from my Fiesta Movement buddy Fran Larkin ...
Overall, am I going to go out and buy his book now on my iPad? No. I'm broke, duh! But I will say kudos to his PR department for doing something new and out of the box which ended up making him seem a bit more likable as a whole to one nerd. Not an easy feat considering what we were all left with after his Presidency.

I'm not a politics person at all either. I see character, and that's about it. I've never agreed with (or honestly put much thought into) his decisions, but I've always felt that he is probably a pretty cool dude. He seems down to earth, funny, and a little nerdy. DUDE - I even had a sex dream about him when I was pregnant! No joke! I scored with the Dub!
bWHAAHAHA!!
