#FourSquare: Are we asking to be robbed? What Crap!

This a reply to @mashable's post: Are We Asking To Be Robbed?

First off, let me preface this article by expressing my love for the Mashable folk. You guys know you're near and dear to my heart- but COME ON GUYS?! Really? How diluted is this article? Usually when I skim your posts I bleed from all the cutting edge content. #MashableFail

Ok, I get it. Location based social media is a bit freaky. "Checking in" at places clearly means you have "checked out" at others. I get it, I get it ... but lets compare LBSM to sending an email in the mid-90s. Do you remember when you were freaked out about sending digital files over this new found thing called the "world wide web?" Now do you even stop to think about it?

LBSM is chartering into new territory. We aren't familiar with the concept of letting people know where we're going, and what we're doing in such a public way. However, if some douche is going to rob you - they're going to rob you. Where there is a will, there is always, always, ALWAYS a way. Is LBSM making it easier for people? Maybe. But aren't online transactions done via credit card making it easier for identy theft? Does that stop you?

Quit ruining the fun, and let me go earn some superly duperly awesome badges!!! #Justsayin
