My Name is Adam, and I am Unapologetically Awesome

I was watching our fearless leader do her Live Show last night, and in between my near-falling-asleep due to exhaustion (Jen's awesomeness isn't very Eastern Daylight Time friendly) and catching glimpses of the K State-Xavier game, I realized something about what Jen was saying:

I'm awesome.

It's that simple, and not go go all Frank Sinatra on you (or Paul Anka for those that prefer that version), but I did it my way.

Maybe it's something about being 25, but I remember I had my own Jen-like epiphany about my awesomeness back in '05, around the time of my 25th birthday. Up until that point in my life, I'd tried to impress people by doing what I thought they would be impressed by, rather than just doing what I enjoyed and what impressed me.

So back then I made a ton of changes in my life, and since then, I've been happy living the way I want to live.

I think the most interesting part of Jen's "crazy time" last night was her views on "labels". We as a population are always so quick to label people, but really, the label is only as good as the definition you place on that label. For example, if you see a box with nothing on the outside but a label with the number "3" written on it, what does that mean? That box has been labeled "3", but there's no context to it. It could be the third in a series, it could contain 3 items, it could be a reference to the size of the box, the address it's supposed to go to... anything really.

In my case, I've got a tattoo of an angel on my left wrist. When most people see this tattoo, they label me as a religious person. But that's not the definition I've placed on that label. No, the tattoo is actually the Angel Investigations logo from the TV show "Angel", and the definition I place on that label is "fan of Joss Whedon's TV shows". (I also have another definition for the tattoo, but that's a post for another day).

So yes, I'm fat. And yes, I'm a nerd. And yes, I'm a writer. I'm a blogger. I'm a redhead. I'm a Wiccan. I'm 29. I'm a Mac. I'm a nutmegger. I'm a Britney-aholic, I'm inked up and dressed down.

Basically, I'm Adam... and I'm unapologetically awesome.

I've even got the website to prove it: http://www.adamisaweso.me
