The origin of #facepalm

 Looky looky what was just tweeted to me ...

 

 

Per Gizmodo: 

 

 

A part of me believes that this is how Jean-Luc Picard's infamous facepalm gesture really slipped into popularity. Coincidentally, that same part of me is currently begging a browser plug-in to just work already.

 

In a few moments I'll be moving on from facepalm to headdesk. Unfortunately I don't have any conspiracy theories about the origin of that gesture to share just yet. [Abstruse Goose]
