#Nerdbooks Confession: I am obsessed with #TheHungerGames
#TalkNerdyToMeLover's Dusty Cooper
We nerds like our triolgies. The Lord of the Rings. Harry Potter. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Okay so Harry Potter was like, 8 books. But you know what I mean.
So, imagine my delight when I picked up The Hunger Games and found out THAT IT RULED.
It’s epic, and it’s sci-fi. Sign me up.
Okay, so here’s the deal. It’s America in the future, and it ain’t pretty. A tyrannical government known as The Capitol has the nation in a chokehold, and there is a gulf the size of Asia between the haves and have-nots. The main character is this 16 year old girl named Katniss, who is basically a badass in the poorest part of her District called The Seam. She is pretty good with a bow and arrow and has fed her family since her father died in a horrible mine explosion.
To keep the population oppressed, The Capitol holds the Hunger Games every year. One boy and one girl under the age of 18 from each District is chosen to go to The Capitol and fight to the death on live television, like gladiators.
I’m only about 100 pages in, so please please please don’t tell me what happens if you’ve already read it. If you haven’t, I highly recommend.
I know these books are gonna devastate me, so I’ll probably be tweeting about them constantly. I promise not to spoil anything though. But feel free to share your thoughts with me! I’ll let you know when I start Catching Fire.
It kind of reminds me a little of Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. Anyone? Am I the only sci-fi of the apocalypse nerd out there?

Aghh thank God someone else loves it.... I was in a very insecure nerd-panic that maybe I was wrong about its epicness!
