#GeekSpeak: The sometimes random misadventures of @Abby_Cake
<editorsnote> Nerds, meet my buddy Abby. I met her in Chicago at the #20SBSummit, and this chick is raaaddddd!! She considers herself more of a nerd than a geek - but I think she's just all shades of random and awesome. Oh and FTR, the TNTML stance on nerds versus geeks are that nerds are products of a genetic predisposition, and geeks are raised. BOOH-YAH!!! I only have one more thing left to say ... HIT IT ABBY!!! </editorsnote>
#TalkNerdyToMeLover's @Abby_Cake
Hi, I'm Abby and I am a lifecaster, blogger, vlogger, writer, painter, nerd, geek, book obsessed, vegetarian, divorcee, feminist, weirdo, lover, amateur chef, and Pokemon fan. Can you tell I don't like labels? I'm here to throw my life at you, and make you like it. No seriously, hopefully I will win you over with my charm. :)
A brief history of my nerd-dom seems necessary, yes? Well, when I was 11 I decided to build my first website on Tripod about the thing I was obviously an expert on - dragons. I don't remember why exactly I checked the html book out of the public library, but I haven't stopped since. My adolescence was further spent reading fantasy novels, making straight A's and staying up late on AIM (I got my dial-up cord taken away once, I cried). Ultima Online was my first mmorpg, my first LAN party was in high school, my first cosplay was the nurse from Silent Hill. My text message sound is a Chocobo wark - everyone thinks it's a sexy whistle (they are wrong!) I am also a literature nerd, and majored in that while I was in college. I love a well-crafted sentence, and find a man who uses "ergo" or "hence" far more attractive that one who doesn't know those words.
I was an English teacher for three years and was laid off when the cutbacks finally hit Texas. Instead of crying, I quit graduate school and took this opportunity to do something I have wanted to do since I was a pre-teen - move to Asia! (I've never been to Asia, nor can I speak any Asian language, yay!) Most likely in February (when I've saved enough money and gotten a job there) I will be running off to South Korea where I will teach and play glorious amounts of StarCraft. They have the highest rate of mmorpg related deaths, and I feel like I will fit in quite well. Until then, I am living in Texas, playing video games, going on adventures and telling you about all of it! Talk nerdy to me.
xx, @abby_cake
