#Dexter S05E02 Hello, Bandit

#TalkNerdyToMeLover's @maniacalmorgan

Spoiler alert! I'm going to be talking about Season 5, Episode 2 of Dexter.

Despite the fact that Dexter didn't murder anyone this episode, it was still captivating none-the-less. With all the shit going on in his life and with the kids, it's a surprise he's still standing. Oh em gee.

So, Dexter is finally cleared with the FBI. Truthfully, I was kind of worried about that. I wasn't sure when Rita's murder actually happened and there was that whole block of time where Dexter was murdering Arthur that was unaccounted for. So, that all worked out. The Mitchell family each gave a different description of Kyle Butler, Dexter's persona he derived to get close to Arthur. Low and behold, Quinn is putting the pieces together. This could get messy. Not only are Quinn and Debra having a "thing," but from the looks of it, he's going to start digging up dirt on Dexter. I see him falling in love with Debra and having to chose between bringing Dexter in or being the Deb. We shall see...

So, I totally thought we were going to see Quinn and Debra go at it again. Alas, there was no fornication. However, it was interesting that Debra finally admitted that they had sex. Again, I see this developing into a relationship. You can quote me on that. Dun dun dun.

Now, I feel like we're seeing a very responsible version of Debra. She's no longer playing the victim and is helping her big brother. She's trying her hardest to make sure that everything works out. She has opened up her home and let go of her privacy for the sake of Dexter and the kids. Super nice of her.

LaGuerta and Batista are having some marital issues. She has a savings account with a quarter million dollars in it that Batista happened to find out about. He feels like she is keeping this from him and she feels like she is saving money for the both of them. Due to some miscommunication, Batista feels that she thinks he is irresponsible. Stupid on his part, but what can I say? This ends with Batista and Masuka in a bar getting hammered. Someone lips off about LaGuerta and Batisa turns into the drunk Hulk and beats his ass. I don't blame him truthfully. We'll see what the repercussion are.

Dexter has discovered a new lead to help him return to his old self; Fowler. A seemingly odd fellow, Dexter has to dig deep to see if he fits into Dexter's rules. After nearly getting caught and following Fowler out into the middle of nowhere, Dexter discovers the bodies of Fowler's victims. If there was a question before, it's gone now. This guy is going to die by Dexter's hand. I am giddy with anticipation.

The department also has a new case on their hands. So far, it seems like a murder / suicide, but we should know better. I smell the antagonist for season 5. We'll have to wait and see how this unfolds. Stay tuned next week! Episode 3 on Showtime at 9:00PM PST.

SPOILER ALERT. I will be talking about Season 5, Episode 1 of Dexter.

HOLYFUCKINGSHIT. Can I start by saying that this episode brought tears to my eyes on multiple occasions? So so so good! I've been waiting for this premier for months and months! If you didn't happen to catch season 4, you can read my recap here. Let's discuss the episode!

So, we totally see a lot of Deb in this episode. She really steps up to the plate and tries to help Dexter through Rita's death. From crime scene to the funeral Deb is there for her brother. Her and Quinn get a little hot and heavy together... and by hot and heavy, I mean they had sex. She totally made it awkward by deciding to pretend like it never happened. Deb has always been a little crazy, so we'll see where that goes.

Dexter was a hot mess most of the episode. When he found Rita dead, what was left of his humanity crawled away into the deep dark recesses of Dexter's mind. Due to his shock, when the police first arrived on the scene he muttered the words, "It was me." Us as viewers know he's trying to say it was his fault for not killing Arthur when he first had the chance. The characters in the show don't quite know what to make of it. Astor and Cody are at Disneyworld with their grandparents when all of this happens. They call to check in, but Dexter doesn't tell them about Rita and just tells them that he needs to talk to them when they get back. You can tell he is very lost and guilty. He's not quite sure what to do and he hasn't been getting any help from his father either. He is all alone. Dexter wanders about in a daze after the night of Rita's murder. When he finally tells Astor, Cody, and their grandparents what happened, his face is still emotionless. Astor tells Dexter that she wishes he was the one that was dead. Bitch. This entire time I just wanted to old Dexter to come back. I wanted him to show some life. DEXTER, WHERE ARE YOU? The day of Rita's funeral, Dexter takes his boat and runs away. While refueling, he gets in a tuft with this complete d-bag and murders him. He finally breaks down and shows some grief. He comes back to take ownership and pick up the pieces of his shattered family.

From the looks of it, Quinn is turning into the next Doakes. Quinn is suspicious of Dexter's actions, and truthfully he has every right to be. Dexter's lack of emotion, his disappearing acts, and knowing about Rita's kiss with the next door neighbor. That's motive right there. I'm sure we'll see a lot of Quinn snooping around. Being the shady character that Quinn is, I'm sure that he'll have some shady connects to find out who Dexter really is. I wouldn't be disappointed if Quinn got brutally murdered. YOU HEAR THAT SHOWTIME? KILL QUINN!

So, despite the overall nature of the episode with Rita's death, I was glad they were able to fit in a Dexter murder. Go team Dexter! I'm totally stoked to see next week's episode!

#Dexter S04 Recap

#TalkNerdyToMeLover's @maniacalmorgan

With season 5 of Dexter right around the corner, I felt it appropriate to give everyone a little run down of season 4. This is totally going to be season 4 in a nutshell, but you'll get the idea.

For those of you that don't know, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is a blood spatter analyst, a husband, a father, and a serial killer. It's in this most recent season that Dexter finds himself marrying his pregnant girlfriend, Rita (Julie Benz) and being a family man. Between his step-children Astor and Cody, his wife, and baby Harrison, Dexter finds himself without time for his bloody hobby.

Spoiler Alert! If you have not seen S04E12 of Dexter, divert your eyes.

The season finale of Dexter was absolutely fantastic. The villain, Arthur aka the Trinity Killer (John Lithgow) finds out Dexter Morgan's true identity putting his new family at risk. It's now a game of cat and mouse to see who can get who first. It seems like Dexter has Arthur in his grasp, Dexter looses his cool in front of some cops and finds himself in jail.

In the mean time, Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall's irl wife) find herself digging up the past to find the truth about her and Dexter's father. She is starting to put the pieces together about who Dexter is and where he came from. Deb approaches Dexter and let's him know the truth. Of course Dexter already knows, but he plays coy with her. They had a bonding moment and it feels like a weight has been lifted. She knows Dexter's origin and still loves him for who he is.

Dexter promises Rita their honeymoon while Cody and Astor are visiting their grandparents. By ensuring that everyone is out of town, his family is protected while Arthur is on the hunt to do some damage. Dexter tries to lead his police friends and co-workers on a wild goose chase by planting some false evidence and making them believe Trinity was someone else. That doesn't last long as Debra catches on and soon all of Miami Metro is hot on the tracks of the real Trinity Killer. Luckily Dexter is able to catch up and Arthur finds himself on Dexter's operating table.

Just when you think everything is okay, the season really goes out with a bang. Dexter comes home to pack up his things and meet Rita for their honeymoon, but finds something awful waiting for him at home. Although Dexter saw Rita off, she had to come back because she forgot her I.D. to get on the airplane. That was just enough time for Trinity to catch up and leave Rita dead in the bathtub. Dexter also finds baby Harrison in a pool of blood. Born in blood. Just like Dexter.
