#NerdsUnite: Poetic Peppering of Parfleche

<editorsnote> Sam is a fan of Mario Kart 64, poetry, and what he calls, "sneak reading" at night. He's a superly duperly talented poet, and would like to share with you one of his latest poems. Cause like poems are the things that poets right, er, write ... I mean that's just obvious ... clearly ... shut up Jen. Take it away Sam!!! </editorsnote>

"The Toad"

A toad was hopping on his way,

When out of nowhere he,

Decided it was time for him

To change himself, to be,

The greatest toad there ever was.,

A toad none else could mock.

So he proclaimed for all to hear,

“Today, I learn to walk.”

A thing to know, in case you don’t

Is toads all long to walk.

In fact it's all they talk about,

That is, if toads could talk.

He fastened up his britches,

He hastened to his feet.

He reared up full and took a step—

And fell. He was not beat.

As all the other animals

Were laughing in the glade,

The toad regained composure:

His decision had been made.

Again he tried to take a step,

Again instead he fell.

Repeating yet again, anon,

What just could not end well.

At last, exhausted, as night came,

He lay upon the ground.

His will remained, but strength was gone,

And just could not be found.

His breathing became ragged,

His heart, it beat so fast.

He knew what soon would happen.

He knew he would not last.

So he lay still and gazed above,

As his small world was spent.

The smile upon his lips said, “Well,

“I tried, and I’m content.”

#NerdsUnite: Poetic Peppering of Parfleche

<editorsnote> Nerds, meet Sam. He is a super rad poet that loves him some Mario Kart and secretly reading under the covers to fall asleep at night. He's got a poem for us today ... one that like, he wrote ... cause he's awesome ... and yeah. I don't know why I'm still talking - shut up Jen. </editorsnote>

Talk Nerdy to Me

Talk nerdy to me lover, if you are so inclined,

And tell me all the lovely little leanings of your mind

Don’t ration out your geeky chic, I want it by the pound

If you can reference Milton then my paradise is found.

How blissful is the word “nerd?”

The absurd bird

With a wise word

That the herd heard?

Or the sleek geek

With a sharp beak

Who can lolspeak

For a week streak?

Speak soft my nerdy angel, with giant sexy brain,

I saw you playing StarCraft, now my passions are insane.

See what it all comes down to, for all that I’ve gone through:

A nerd has found their own way. A nerd is truly true.

A Mighty Fine Poetic Saint

#TalkNerdyToMeLover's @SaintPepsi

So as most of you know I am an artist. I draw and draw till I feel like my hands are going to fall off. Now thanks to this site some of you know I am also a writer. In fact prior to this I had been working on a book with my brother whom now lives in Kansas City. I have dreams of one day being in a band and my friend Jeff and I are looking into that. Really, I feel a lot like Jen I just want to get out there and try whatever I can. So it may come as no surprise to you that I am also a poet. I have been doing poetry ever since they started a poetry night at my favorite bar. I went with my then x girlfriend because she's a real poet and while listening felt inspired to write something I to could read on stage.

That first poem I wrote was called, “The Clap.” I thought I would share it with you today. So enjoy!

After that I got a pretty decent reaction. I was amazed that I actually kinda had a knack for this. So I went on writing. I would write out 2 new poems every other week for that was when Auntie Mae's has their Poetry Nights. Much to the befuddlement of my X who promptly proclaimed, “ HEY! You're and artist be an artist. I'm the poet that's my thing.” Don't let her shrewd words disillusion you. She's one of my closest friends and the person I turn to when I need poetic advice.

So I'll share two more video's shot in the basement of our pirate bar.

These two poems are titled - “No Filter” and “Smoking”

These two poems are titled - “To Tall” and “Left for Right”

Most of these cuts are rough and unpolished because I write then preform. However, the ones you will see in the future will be recorded at home usually and well rehearsed. Once again these were all from Auntie mae's Mighty Fine Poetry Night at Auntie Mae's. If you're in the midwest and need a great bar to hang out I can recommend none stronger than this one.
