I #suck at putting makeup on...

Can any of you ladies put mascara on without getting it all over your eyes?  Cause I sure as hell can't.  I have tried everything, but I always get it every where.  Sometimes I even end up with a big smear across my cheek.  Seriously, what is wrong with me?  My mom says it's because I'm a tard...but I'm not convinced.  I'm going to blame it on the fact that my lashes are long.  Thin and blonde but long.  So nanner nanner.
