#TNTML seeks intern

Alrite, so we're like legitimately a legitimate business ... so I need to step up to my own plate and start to do something about it. I need to like actually do some research on a lot of things, and I just need someone to help me do all of the technical stuff that goes into all of this. I'm too creative, and furthermore I'm too ensconced in this space to even care.

You'll be my right hand. I don't really know what that means as every single day is totally different for me.

Dude, I can't even write a job post. This is how spaced my brain can be at times. I just really don't care.

I want a hustler.

I want someone who knows about us, or is at least willing to understand the mentality that I have and can absolutely keep up.

I will say it'll mostly be behind the scenes. No one will ever run my twitter, or run this site on the front end. This is my baby. But I do need help like researching things, making calls, generally making sure I don't forget to fax something, or send someone paperwork, really simple things that for me are like pulling teeth.

I'll give you college credit, promotion, I don't know ... throw some ideas at me. Make 'em good. I will say this, we are a VERY chill environment. The other night when we had a former staff member go postal, we just threw a party and drank beer while we retagged everything. Totally not kidding either. Everything here is about having fun .... but it doesn't mean we're not working.

I know what I want, and I know when I'll find it. I'll do the college-ie thing if I have to, but I have a feeling too, I might not have to. Let's see ...

Drop me an email if you're interested so we can step outside of 140 characters: JenFriel@talknerdytomelover.com

here's my facebook so you can see how things go down: www.facebook.com/jenfriel

I will say this, I have been an intern, a temp, and had every pee on job ever. I will treat you with an INCREDIBLE amount of respect, as I remember those shoes were not fun to walk in. If you wanna learn how to run a website and work in social media, here's a pretty good opportunity if I do say so myself!

I'll take someone on virtually, or if you live in LA total awesome sauce. Just throw some ideas at me.

Thanks guys!!

#TrueStory: I once worked for Jerry Bruckheimer

I've been hustling in this town for almost 7 years. There is nothing that happens here that doesn't shock me. We work hard and play harder, but I can honestly say I have seen it, been there, done that, and loved it so much I did it all over again.

I came to LA when I was 19 after a long drive for 3 days across country with my dad ... in my beat up chevy cavalier convertible that I had gotten when I turned 16 ... with $300 in my pocket, and an apartment I got on craigslist where I shared a bedroom, and more roomies that I can count on one hand, and oh yeah - they all had live in significant others.

I had only been to LA one other time in my life, when I was 13 ... but I just knew for like ever and ever this place was for me. I can't describe it. I grew up idolizing Kelly Kapowski and the Cali lifestyle just seemed so amazing to a nerdy pale irish chick from Connecticut. So yeah ... off I went. Didn't know a single soul, didn't have a pot to piss in, just had the insane passion for the entertainment industry. I had been acting and modeling locally for as long as I could remember, but I was more curious about who hired the actors? And how did that person get to where they got to? And then that person got to them through who? I clearly worshiped Sherry Lansing. Ever hear of her? Here, check out her wiki - now that chick has got some serious balls.

So bottom line, LA was definitely the place for me. And so the hustle began ...

I don't remember exactly how I met this person through AOL, or what exactly ... but I started up a local chat on AIM with this guy who's family owned this crazy successful temp agency. I was all, dude! Epic! Can you get me an interview?? I just moved here and totally needed an awesome office job. I go in, do all the nerdy test typing things, get interviewed by the their staff dude, and low and behold two days later I got a call at 8:30 asking if I could be in Santa Monica by 9. See, temp agencies are awesome, but they basically run off of location. I lived on the westside, Santa Monica was literally 10 minutes away. I said of course, where am I going? He replied, to work for Jerry Bruckheimer.

I kid you not. My very first temping job in LA was working for Jerry Bruckheimer. He had some dude named Tom (I think) working for him, and he called out - soooooo I was all OMG! This is like my big break! Yep, hello naive Nelly.

I sat outside his office answering a phone all day in this crazy complicated system ... some monologue script in hand trying to be all "but I don't JUST answer a phone, I'm an actor."

Dude, funny story ... at one point I was asked to move some boxes, and I was helping the PA and I literally could not see. I rounded the corner and smacked right into Jerry. Mind you at the time, I was instructed "you will not talk to Jerry. If you see Jerry you will walk the other way. Do not approach him, do not bother him." That's totally their fault for not mentioning "do not hit him with a pile of boxes." Super nice guy. Kinda shrugged and laughed it off. I think the "I just got off the boat" was still stamped on my head. I was easily forgiven.

I spent the rest of the day typing, answering phones, and juggling all the madness in the office. It was pretty cool getting to see how crazy private this man's production office is. I felt like I was in this weird super secret inner circle. I worked my little fanny off, and continually got asked back for the duration of the assignment. It was super bitchin.

See, even if you're working a crap job in LA, you can't have a crap attitude. This is the largest small town I have ever lived in. There may be millions of people actually residing in LA proper, but the movers and the shakers run in a very very very small pack.

Don't shit where you eat, and shut up when told to. Do a good job, and yes - one day it will repay itself. You might not know how, or why, or whatever ... but just keep your head down and work.

I wound up not working for Jerry full time, as I saw the other people in the office looked well beyond their years. I don't doubt that having worked for Jerry would have been like the most amazingly awesome experience ever, but it just didn't make sense to me. I was so young, and so impressionable ... I just wasn't ready. That turned out to actually be one of the best decisions I ever made.

... to be continued ...

Dear person that just #hacked us ....

SOOO!!! We were hacked this evening. Wait, I don't even want to call it hacked, because this was in fact an inside job. For the sake of storytelling however, it did sound way better. Either way, I know who did it. Could you really be that dumb and not know about IP addresses? Like for reals ... I thought you were pretty nerdy. Dude, it's like going into a bank and robbing it without a mask or a gun. Just being all, give me your money beyotch!

Stupidity at its finest.

Either way, the variable you didn't consider is that I am Buddhist. I am not going to come after you, I was smart enough to have backed up. Albeit clearly not far enough, but totally kosher lesson learned.

You have to understand this site is my heart, my everything. You can remove the posts, but you can't take my heart with it.

HAHAHA you're actually like the Grinch. You can take away the presents all you want, but Christmas is still going to come. All you did was further deepened my convictions.

See ... I spent almost all day in meditation. Which for me, is nuts. I don't ever get that much time off to meditate. But today, it was just incredibly quiet - and I just took some me time.

I was watching Walking Dead with Morgan, Stouty, and Tucker ... and Morgan left to go to bed, comes back and goes what's wrong with the site? It's jumping posts. Literally within less than 2 minutes of your attack, we had already isolated you. I contacted our server immediately and remedied the situation. Of course you did get a few posts, but go ahead, lick a dick ... honestly man, I just don't care.

THENNNNNNN ... not like 5 minutes later, my friend from high school called and said he was on his way over with his girl. Total strange set of circumstances, they brought beer and wanted to hang out. Even in this what should have been frantic state, I was all ... sure! Come on by!

We started talking and I was just floored by this chick my friend brought over. Her name was Rhea and she spends her days studying monkeys in the jungle. Totally not kidding either. Her insights on life, and being, and just everything were EXACTLY what I needed to hear at that very moment.

That's the thing on life. We are conditioned to believe we need to horde all of these things to sustain existence, but it is in just being where the magic happens.

So sure, a few posts are gone ... awesome. This is my life, dude! I will absolutely commit the next however long it takes to fix what you did. You can't stop us! My energy is aligned within this medium, and I will do whatever it takes to get it done.

So yeah ... there ya go!! Shit happens ... but everything in life is attitude! And ain't NOOTHIINNNGGG going to shake this!

Dude, I lived off of beef jerky for 30 days, survived being homeless, and haven't had $10 to my name in almost a year. Really, did you think deleting some posts was REALLY going to affect me?

Thanks though, another epic part of a great story! W00t! W00t!

You have GOT to #believe!

The more and more that keeps happening with this site, the more and more I realize that all you really ever have to do in life is believe. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean you stop working the hustle - but life is reflective. Absolutely EVERRYYTHIINNGGG starts with you.

I don't consider myself an entrepreneur at all - although I get called it a lot. It's sort of weird. I can resonate with the spirit and the general belief that yes, the world has changed. However, the financial side of it could not interest me less. Don't get me wrong, I am going to be elated when I can actually have a moment to breathe and not have to come up with some pretty clever shit to get the job done ... but at the same time, it is telling an incredible story. I just don't want to be this like crazy dominant force. I'm just Jen. I want to conquer my brain before anything else. But, again life being reflective, by conquering your own self, the rest of the world follows suits. Things literally just fall from the sky on me. It's nuts! But I am present enough to even notice that it is raining.

Opportunities pass you by every.single.day. For anything in life you want, if you look hard enough, I assure you it is right there. But it HASSSSSS to start with you.

Dude, last year I would have named 1,000 things I couldn't live without. I thought being Buddhist was a nice idea, a pretty cool concept, but no way anyone could ever actually live like that. Trust me, you can live like this. Things are nice, but they just are. They are not you, and you are not them. By removing them, you are still you.

Quote to live by: You can explore the universe looking for somebody who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and you will not find that person anywhere.
