The #TNTML difference!

Alrite, so I've been thinking pretty hardcore about this since Tahoe Tech Talk. I've sort of organically just let this site unfold itself. I coined the whole "social commentary on social media" thing to kinda just cover the fact that social media is a reflection of life, and pretty damn nerdy. Since I eat.sleep.and.breathe. social media, of course I was going to talk about it here ... its my version of nerd.

But the more and more I keep thinking about things, the more I am able to at least determine what I do NOT want this site to be:

We will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER be a tabloid-eee sensationalism, journalistic type thing. Even as nerds become cooler and more mainstream, I have ABSOLUTELY no interest in being the TMZ for nerds. So fuck that. No really, never ever ever ever ever. I'll shut it down first. The shock jock approach will never happen here.

What I want:

The truth as told by the nerd posting. I want people to talk about what is relevant to them, as it is happening to them. Freedom of advertisers, freedom of sponsors, freedom of bullshit. Tell me about life as you see it to be true. Period. End of sentence.

I used this as a portfolio to basically say, yes, I can do it. We're going to get money from the projects stemming from TNTML, but not from it directly. Any money I get from the film, or the other ventures I am involved in are just going to go back to the community to fund it. I'm fascinated about conducting this experiment upon giving people permission slips to be awesome, and see what they do with it. I think it could be pretty bitchin. I just fear that if I do start taking on traditional advertisers and traditional sponsors, we're going to have to start censoring things. I don't want a SINGLE post on this site to be censored. Just post what you feel. Period end of sentence.

Life told by nerds, for nerds. Me likey.

PS. It's no joke too, if you guys ever have an idea on something we can work on, or a way you can add value, drop me an email, JenFriel@talknerdytomelover.com, tweet, or facebook my butt.

There's an APP for that!

 #TalkNerdyToMeLover's @SaintPepsi

So today I was trying to get online to check out the latest www.woot.com offer and my internet for whatever reason decided I would not get the social media I crave. I waited for what seemed like forever, but was only 2 min for a page to load (Side note – how many of you remember when that's really how long it took to access any page online) and got fedup and went to my droid. I thought there has to be an APP for woot.com. Sure enough there was I quickly downloaded it and checked out the newest woot item which for today was an IPOD touch and the shirt which was a cute cerebrus which I very nearly bought. I mean IT'S SO FLUFFY!!!! Seriously my whole T-shirt collection is basically shirts from Woot.com. So sense I have so many shirts I really have to make tough calls on the shirts I might get. That was super close and before the sale is over I will probably buy it. For now however, I have shown restraint. That aside I thought to myself, “Hey, Talknerdytomelover is big enough and we update enough that we should have an APP for that.” So if anyone out there knows how to make Droid and Iphone apps we should really put you in contact with Jen and get this started. Let's take the nerdy revolution to our phones making it all the easier to check out this site when were bored at work, while driving long distances, on airplanes, trains, and automobiles. Course knowing Jen and her penchant for crazy knowledge about tech she probably already has this under development. If not though it needs to happen. Like Photoshop needs to have an autosave function. Seriously on both counts. When I tell people about www.talknerdytomelover.com I want to be able to say with over zealous confidence. “HELL YEAH! We are awesome, so unapologetically awesome in fact we have an APP for that.” Quickly bringing it up on my phone and beaming with pride over the article I wrote and the site I'm a part of.
