They're Talking Nerdy Baby: #NerdsUnite

OMMMMGGGGGGGGGG is there anything better to wake up to? Looky looky the email I got this morning ...

Hey XXXXX!

Thanks so much for reaching out dude.

I was totally in your same shoes. I lived my ENTIRE LIFE for other people, and their expectations of who I was and what I should be doing. It drove me crazy - literally. I finally got so frustrated with reading all of those cheesy quotes sitting around my desk, and just said I'm gonna go for it. The first step was the hardest, but the best part was every subsequent step was shown to me the moment it needed to be shown. It's a journey that you can't really see and no one prepares you for. It starts with this feeling of discontent, and unhappiness. I had two things I listened to ... feels good/ doesn't feel good. Literally, it was that easy. Social media felt AWESOME! But everyone thought I was bat shit for turning my back on acting and modeling. It's like wait, why can't I just create my own multimedia platform to take pictures on and occasionally make a funny video or two. Isn't that kinda the same? Who says I have to do it your way when I think this is a REALLY special time to be alive in this space?! And it interests me SO much!!! This can't be a bad thing!!

People will tell you you're crazy. Family and friends may not speak to you for a while ... but hold people in a place of unconditional love and just let go, babe.

Life really. really. really. is what you make of it. If it doesn't feel good, you're doing life wrong.

Stay strong, and LMK if theres anything I can do to help.

#nerdsunite

Also!! I totally updated the About page, and created a Jen's Journey piece up top sort of explaining how we all came about, since my journey isn't exactly what this site is necessarily about - more of just a cool tale. You guys have NO idea how hard it is to write that yourself while you're still so deep in it. It's a very weird feeling - no other word for it.

I'm totally serious too, and please take me up on an offer to help anyone out with anything you guys can come up with! Dude! @Zrdavis hit me up back in December, and TODAY he is starting his hike on the Appalachian Trail. Like today, like right now - he is there. It was very literally nothing for me to post, and it helped him tremendously. So fucking bat shit, man! So for reals ... you don't bother me ... you people make my life, and I kinda wanna make out now cause kissing feels good and you're hot and uh yeah.

#kthxbye

#NerdsUnite: Learn to take time

AHHH!! BAHHHH and YAHHHHHH!!!! ANNDDD looky looky the tweet I just got ...

K. So I've posted on this a gajillion times, and I'm sure I'll post on it a gajillion more. No really, a gajillion. Literally.

Get it? ... My daddio who kicks it on the patio, taught me growing up the importance of sitting and watching the sunset. It keeps you present, keeps you grounded, while at the same time reminding you of what is important in life. Even the other day, when I got like crazy overwhelmed with what's going on with the pilot and what not - my first instinct was to hit a bus and get to the beach. No, not literally hit a bus more like go find one ... track it down ... and make it your bitch.

It is MAKING MY LIFEEEEEEEE right now that some of you guys are doing the same! For REALS! Keep it up! Totally works! May not have listened to my dad on everything ... as is evident from this video ...

but that ... THAT ... I still do.

Keep on keepin on! WAHOO!!

#nerdsunite

PS. emails make my LIFEEEEEEEEE!!! Thanks so so so so so much you guys xo

Unapologetically Awesome Tour heads to San Diego!

In the land of Jen desires a Kokomo checkin, I need a vacation. Desperately. I am being proactive in this scenario, and decided to head to San Diego for the weekend. The best part is that I came up with a frugally responsible plan strictly utilizing public transportation.

First, I'm popping over to the Greyhound station here in Hollywood - and hopping on a bus.

Cost: $16.72 (money received via the psychological fugue fund aka friend of the site)

Bus station to Gaslamp district (where I want to go): $2.25

Upon arrival in the Gaslamp district, I negotiated a deal with a hostel to stay in one of their rooms in exchange for some nerdy loving.

Cost: $0

Food: I got a bunch of Zone bars the other day from the gym doing some sort of promo thing. I'm pretty certain I can survive off of a box of 10 for a weekend. I don't think I'll need to eat more than 3 over the course of 3 days. Might be close, but doubtful. Either way, never underestimate the kindness of Facebook friends you haven't friended yet for web favors in return. Fucking FABULOUS!

And there I beeeeeeee in the San Dizzle izzle my nizzle! I'm literally getting out of town for the weekend for under $50 round trip. How AWESOME is that?

If you're in the area and wanna kick it totally hit me up on twitter: @JenFriel and follow my checkins on FourSquare: foursquare.com/jenfriel

Can't wait to meet some of you! Except that dude over there. Yes, yes you. You smell.

They're Talking Nerdy Baby: #NerdsUnite

Looky looky the email I just got on Facebook ...

Wow. Amazing question Rebecca! Thanks for reaching out.

The number one thing I used to ALLLWWAYYYYYSSSS teach my accounts was to ask a series of qualifying questions. When it  comes to cellular anything - people really only wanted the newest and fanciest app friendly device. I used to tell my accounts that that was great and all, but if they actually educated the customer on why they were buying the product, they would ultimately have a better experience and refer more friends. Back then, omg haha - it was does it have a camera, can you send a text? (Dude, this was 2006! INSANE!) I know this sounds lame, but I just very very very genuinely wanted to help people find the device that was best suited for their habits. Again, these now seem a bit outdated since I feel like everyone under the sun has one reason or another for a smartphone - but I would ask people questions like- are you going to use this for work? What kind of work do you do? (PDA vs. non - ANNNDDD maybe they are the decision maker in the office, so you could do a B2B upsell at that point!)

Get personal. Vibe it out, though. Some people may TOTALLY shoot you down, and say this is what I want - give it to me - peace. But the overwhelming majority of the population won't. They'll actually get really really really excited. Know your phones inside and out so you can recommend on the fly, and just go with it. No one likes to be sold - but we want to buy. So, let us!

Hope this helps!

#NerdsUnite: Meet @meowmistidawn

A crazy, weird, and awesome set of scenarios brings us our latest contributor, @meowmistidawn! Met this chick on Twitter through a mutual friend, and a love of Spirithoods - grabbed a drink - now we're totes besties.

For reals! She's super super super candid, and totally keeps it real.

This chick is rad, and clearly considering her choice of lifestyle has some interesting stories - and oh, oh, oh, she's also a total nerd. And not just cause it's cool - she's a total gamer that gets annoyed when she has to hit pause to bone on camera for a minute. Without further adieu, nerds I bring you Misti - HIT IT!

Sophmore year of high school

A little bit may have changed on the exterior, but don't let it fool you.

Hi. Nice to meet you. My name is Misti Dawn. Yeap. Thats my real name. I will be here to entertain you weekly. I am skilled in the fine art of talking nerdy to my lovers. What makes me so qualified you might ask, well perhaps it is my career choice. See, I'm not just genetically a nerd but like all true nerds I love sexuality so after literally coming out of my fat awkward girl shell I ventured off in to the adult industry. Long story short of how I got in to it, I just wanted to explore my sexuality while I was in college, and being from Kentucky that exploration wasn't really encouraged. So I packed up and moved out west to chase dreams of nerd love and sex.

I thought I'd use this first entry as an introduction snip so in future blogs the dots will connect. My porn side is easy to find out about, obviously the internet exist so you can find a lot "cough" about me and even see me. But let me back up to my nerdy roots. I grew up an only child with my mother and mema (southern for grandma) in Kentucky. My mother owned a video store thus I think my nerd-itis started here. I am more of the "video game" nerd and with my mother having the video store I had endless access to any console and any game and a unsurpassable supply of B horror movies. Oh Full Moon Video.... It was heaven. Of course I love comics, RPGs, and crafts but my nerd drug of choice has always been: Video games. And my first girl crush, Lara Croft started at this time as well. Might be safe to say Lara made me think about sexuality. Video games made me sexy? Then middle school, high school, college. I was a great student, active in clubs, in band, oh and fat. The usually nerd story.

If you have any further questions about my upbringing feel free to ask via comment.... but now I venture off in to tell you about being a nerdy gal in porn.....

First off, Ive discovered many girls in porn are now claiming to be "nerds". Odd how being a nerd has become cool.  So i'm always next to these beautiful women claiming to be in to the same things I am. Sounds like heaven right? Smart beautiful nerds! Nope... most of them are a farce.  Its like being in a high school sitcom and the cool clique has started doing what you've always done and taking all the credit. Grrr...  But i have noticed the fan base i've gained has been legit nerds. Nerds i've looked up to actually, and I find they tend to like me for me which is kind of strange being in an industry sold solely on looks not wit. But times they are a changing. With social media becoming a part of every day life, a sense of intimacy comes in a different way than what porn used to be. Personal Interactions -and nerds have this social media thing down pat. And who buys porn? (Not many people anymore thank you internet) People who collect things.... who collect things? NERDS! So some how the stars aligned and nerdy pornstar and porn collecting nerds have met and are now making a symbiotic relationship. Sadly porn as an industry hasn't quite caught on to this concept, how far reaching social media actually effects sales. For example when porn parodies are made of our favorite comics yet all of the stars of the porn don't resembling the characters at all or even worse never even heard of the comic. For example, my favorite comic ever, Spiderman was recently turned in to a porn. The girl who played Mary Jane Watson had brown hair and brown eyes and only got casted due to being a contract girl with a big company and the guy who played Harry Osborn did not even know who Harry was. I don't know about you but as a nerd at heart, this kills my nerd boner for wanting to watch these movies.

Well, that is my short rant and intro. From here on in I will be guiding you through my every day life. Days on set. Dating. Traveling to conventions. and of course.... The large amount of sexual interactions I have daily.

Nerdily Yours,

Misti Dawn
